The Road by Cormac McCarthy end of the world apocalypse story. I read it in a day and a half. It's short and you will not want to put it down!
He also wrote No Country For Old Men, which was made into a film by the Coen Brothers. Which is my next book, after I finish The God Delusion |

I am here to recommend Battle Royale by Koushun Takami. Amazing read! I love the film (which i was before i read the book) but, as is usually the case, the book is 100 times better. The manga is amazing too. |

I love the film, did not know there was a book! yay
I have another book from Cormac McCarthy, Blood Meridian, fucking amazing! If you have watched Deadwood, it is similar in theme to that and we think where Deadwood got much of its atmosphere from!
Snow Crash, by Neal Stephenson again a bloody brilliant story amazing characters, supposedly a huge influence on the Wachowski bros who created the Matrix. |

The Princess Bride. Just finished re-reading it and it's still excellent. |
